This lesson is designed to reflect on Nicholas’ problems and explain the growth of opposition against the Tsar in Russia prior to the 1905 revolution. Looking at the long term impact of Alexander IIs reforms such as the creation of Zemstvo and Emancipation of Serfs and the political spectrum. Lesson designed to take 2 hours plus homework- the Marxism stuff takes a lot of explaining!

This lesson is for the Component 1 teaching of Democracy. It examines the development of suffrage in the UK and milestones which led to this and examines more recent debates about the growth of suffrage e.g. Votes for 16 and the voting rights for prisoners. If you can get hold of a copy of Blackadder III Dish and Dishonesty it is well worth it- so funny for the state of Democracy in the 19th Century but it is not essential for this lesson. Obviously I cannot share this for copyright reasons. All other resources are included. Part of my whole topic on DEmocracy priced £8 you may wish to buy the whole topic instead :)

Edexcel Politics Alevel Lessons on Ideologies as a whole and Liberalism as a topic for the Edexcel 2017 spec. I teach Liberalism first because it makes MUCH more sense since it was developed first as an Ideology and Conservatism was a response to it. This bundle includes the first 7 lessons (2 hours each) intro and activities, Core Values with independent research (uses hand outs from Pearson and Haywood book) and Explanation of the Core Values but you could use some of the slides if you don’t have the textbook. Lesson 5 ends up developing a plan for the essay: To what extent do Liberals agree on the State? (24 marks) I taught these lessons to my Year 13 class and they worked really well for discussion.
