Year 2: Mental Arithmetic Tests

(1)
This is a collection of mental maths papers/tests for Year 2. The spreadsheet includes four sheets differentiated four ways (LA, MA, HA and Challenge) and includes answer sheets. What makes these different to other published mental maths material, is that each sheet can be randomised by simply pushing F9 on your keyboard, so there are almost an unlimited combination of questions for each paper. This means they can be used as often as you like with very little repetition. Use them daily, weekly, termly or as you wish. Use them for early bird, homework or to regularly assess the children's mental computation. Also included on the sheet is a record sheet if you wish to track pupil progress - simply fill in the names and record the results in the grid (scores will be colour coded for easy analysis). The previews represent just a fraction of the sheets that can be produced! Objectives covered: Count in steps of 2, 3, and 5 from 0, and in 10s from any number, forward and backward Recognise the place value of each digit in a two-digit number (10s, 1s) compare and order numbers from 0 up to 100; use and = signs Solve problems with addition and subtraction: using concrete objects and pictorial representations, including those involving numbers, quantities and measures Solve problems with addition and subtraction: applying their increasing knowledge of mental and written methods Recall and use addition and subtraction facts to 20 fluently, and derive and use related facts up to 100 Add and subtract numbers using concrete objects, pictorial representations, and mentally, including: a two-digit number and 1s; a two-digit number and 10s; 2 two-digit numbers; adding 3 one-digit numbers Recognise and use the inverse relationship between addition and subtraction and use this to check calculations and solve missing number problems Recall and use multiplication and division facts for the 2, 5 and 10 multiplication tables, including recognising odd and even numbers Calculate mathematical statements for multiplication and division within the multiplication tables and write them using the multiplication (×), division (÷) and equals (=) signs Recognise, find, name and write fractions 1/3, 1/4, 2/4 and 3/4 of a length, shape, set of objects or quantity Write simple fractions, for example 1/2 of 6 = 3 and recognise the equivalence of and Recognise and use symbols for pounds (£) and pence (p); combine amounts to make a particular value More like this... Foundation Subjects Tracking without Levels

(4)
This is the perfect partner to my Primary Assessment and Tracking without Levels resource (see link below). Here are six separate spreadsheets, for years 1-6, to assess: History, Geography, ICT, Art, DT, RE, PE and MFL (French: years 3-6 only - objectives could apply to Spanish or German etc). Simply enter pupils' names onto 'overview' sheet and you are ready to go. Enter numbers 1,2 or 3 for each objective on the different sheets: 1 = Working towards objective (W); 2 = Met objective (M); 3 = Exceeding objective (E); a zero can also be entered if necessary. Once filled in, an average will be calculated for each pupil and this will also appear on the overview sheet for viewing and printing. Easy to use, shouldn't take hours and hours of work and is an excellent (not to mention cheap) solution to tracking progress in foundation subjects. The spreadsheets are password protected to prevent accidental deletion of important cells. Password can be found in instructions document so you adapt objectives to your school's needs if necessary. Please, leave feedback for this amazing resource.
