This is the 5th lesson in this series for Yr12 AQA Sociology Family. I created it for 1st Lock Down. It’s broken down into **4 one hour lessons. ** I used this with my 3 Year 12 groups, they found it easy to follow and I believe it develops a good level of knowledge and understanding, and importantly encourages students to do something with this developed knowledge to help make links and develop analytical and evaluative skills.

I have made a reference used a BBC documentary on Domestic Violence. I would advise you watch it first and decide if it is appropriate for your pupils.

Year 8 lessons on The Media. There are a number of lessons and activities included here for various ability levels with lesson plans and a scheme of work. - with a project on RSPCA campaign

This is a start to memory. The bundle of work contains a powerpoint with various activities to help students begin to think about the role and importance of memory. There are 2 podcasts and video documentary on Clive Wearing. This worked well with my students to get them into memory. I used one of the podcasts as a homework with accompanying questions.

Designed really for Yr 13s who are going to be leaving home to go to university. Safe dating is really just designed to get students to think about practical issues for staying safe. I have other Yr 12 and 13 Tutor materials uploaded also.

This powerpoint is designed for parents. We put on an evening in the Autumn term - How to help my son/daughter....My session is on revise. I go through revision techniques and the importance of being organised. This is a forerunner to the December Yr 12 mocks,

I used the 1st 3 documents with my Yr 12s. We used the powerpoint and clips. In Yr 13 once the students had chosen, been on open days etc and been through the process, I asked them to write a how to guide for the year below - see Word Doc. This provides a 1 hour plus start to Psychology develops the ideas of the methodology of psychologists and in particular ethical considerations, changes in ideas, thinking and medical ability. There are a good range of accompanying resources to see you through the lesson, to teach from and for students to record their individual/group ideas. This is based on the ethical experiments idea. . I have 3 taster sessions (all are uploaded).

This provides a 1 hour starter/taster to sociology develops the ideas of society, role, stereotyping - as well as developing themes such as social control, belief, family, education etc. The session is taught through the PowerPoint and based around discussion of the roles needed for society, whats needed to create a functional society, who would best provide the roles and inevitably stereotyping. Students typically discuss the need for power and control and who has it. This leads to some nice early ideas developing Marxism and Functionalism. Accompanying resources are attached. This is based on the lifeboat game. I have a 2 taster sessions (both uploaded).

Designed for Yr 13 as part of Post 18 pathways. An introduction to Apprenticeships and leads to plenty of discussion. I have other Yr 12 and 13 tutor material uploaded.

Designed for Yr 13 students to consider options post 18. Goes through the range of options and provides several links for students to explore. I also do a detailed sessions on the various options that the powerpoint mentions. I have other Yr 12 and 13 tutor materials uploaded.

Designed really for Yr 12s before their Yr 12 mocks, but can be used to remind Yr 13 of different strategies or generate discussion. I've used VARK to encourage students to think about how they best learn and then suggested strategies that they can adapt around those. I have other Yr 12 and 13 Tutor materials uploaded also.

This is aimed at Year 12s in the summer term., but could equally be used with Yr 13s. There are two powerpoints. One briefly introducing CVs and the information which will be needed. This could be sent to students or given the week before in preparation. I have other Yr 12 and 13 Tutor work uploaded.

This PowerPoint is aimed at students and can form part of the taught delivery. It goes through the the reading and researching process and how to reading effectively, considering the role and significance of the book. It begins to introduce source evaluation. The resource log accompanies the PowerPoint and I used it in subsequent lessons as students got further into the research process. AQA A'Level EPQ 7993

I was asked to put together a presentation for staff to explain the importance of higher level questioning and give some examples of approaches and activities to encourage it. The powerpoint does just that! This was followed up with further training sessions and now I lead a SWG for stretch and challenge. Please feel free to contact me if you would like further explanation of any activities or further examples. I have not been able to upload the Question Generator but can send this to you separately. Also included, a self assessment sheet and notes to go with the powerpoint. Additionally, the slides contained structured questions relevant to the subject, within the Academy I teach at, all subject areas produced a specific one. The idea being that students get more used to higher order questioning and encourages better peer questioning, teachers have a visual aid - often useful if being observed.
