JAPANESE CULTURE. TRADITIONAL VS MODERN. ART, ARCHITECTURE, ENTERTAINMENT, HISTORY. MANGA, SAMURAI, KARATE, GEISHA, FASHION, TRANSPORT. RELIGION, FOOD, TECHNOLOGY, LITERATURE (HAIKU). 10 STRANGE FACTS. THERE IS LITTLE TEXT IN THIS POWER POINT. THE IMAGES ARE MEANT TO PROMPT DISCUSSION ON THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN OLD AND NEW JAPAN. PLEASE REVIEW AND LEAVE FEEDBACK :)

The presentation spans 500 years of slavery, abolition, civil war, segregation and civil rights in USA. The historical summary is thoughtful and the imagery is powerful. Perfect introduction to Black History Month, BLM, police brutality and racism conversations.

A Short History Of Photography

A collection of some of the most famous, important, newsworthy, creative or simply silly photographs from the last 150 years of so. I start with the first ever developed image, the first criminal mugshot into and throughout the 20th Century chronologically. Great for understanding the last century through imagery. After class discussion, my students chose their favourites and wrote a paragraph explaining the image and why they liked it.
