A quiz about our carbon footprints and impacts of our daily lives on the environment, particularly the climate, which can be done as a trail with answers located around the school or classroom. Each question and answer addresses one aspect of our lives (eg. transport, clothes, food etc) and provides answers to the quiz questions, as well as tips on how to reduce our impact in each area. Can lead on to discussions about which things the children themselves can do something about, and which things they may need to ask adults to change. Contains 11 cut-out answer cards and one quiz sheet which also has an explanation of what a carbon footprint is.

Natural Selection and Adaptation Activity for KS2 Evolution

A hands-on activity to demonstrate how Evolution occurs by Natural Selection. Also shows how the process of Adaptation happens - ie. to populations, not individuals. Ideal for KS2 Evolution topic. A population of bugs is subjected to different environmental pressures (chosen by throwing dice) and the children work out which bugs would have survived in each scenario. Over time, Adaptive Features within the population of bugs are seen to change in response to the environment. This provides a very clear visual illustration of evolution happening in real time. This is a group activity. It can be re-run to produce different outcomes and, hence, prompt further discussion.
