International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination - Facts, Figures and Videos

This presentation is good for International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination and Harmony Day. This presentation uses the facts from the police records of racial discrimination in the UK. It also looks at the impact of the Brexit, both before and after the vote and how this reflected in racial discrimination. There are lots of chances for the students to discuss what is discrimination, multiculturism and the Brexit.

Climate Change Week or anything you need to know about global warming and climate change. I have based my presentations on work carried out by both NASA and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). I have collected together information about climate change, its causes, its consequences and some of the things students can do to help reduce their own impact on the environment. In addition, I have included some colouring sheets which will make lovely pieces of display work. This work does contain public domain material, but it has taken a considerable amount of time to change these into attractive, informative documents for children.

51 Spring themed coloring pages. The idea is to use them in between intensive SATS revision, as a way to reduce the stress levels of children. According to Science, repetitive movements helps to promote serotonin production, increasing the level of happiness in children and decreasing their stress levels. I have collected these pictures together and made them easy for a teacher to print out. I did collect them from a public domain source but I have spent time resizing them, fitting them into the theme and getting them ready for classroom use.

I have collected together all the flags of the Commonwealth, included descriptions of what each flag really means and added links for you to read more about each Commonwealth country. This document would be a fabulous starting point for any Commonwealth day celebrations. You could print out all the flags to make a nice flag bunting. You could also mix up the different flags and see how many of the countries the children can identify. I have included some blank world maps for children to add the names of the countries to a map.

This is a fun art project for a class. I have created an easy mini printable paper kit, which you can print out and assemble and create a class of mini lucky leprechauns. The pack comes complete with printable leprechaun kits, and a step by step PowerPoint presentation show you and your class how to assemble these wonderful men. I really hope you like them as I have dreams of making them for lots of different occasions throughout the year! It is a fun way to celebrate St Patrick's Day on 17th of March and make sure every child in the class has something nice to bring home with them.

Holi is an Indian Spring Festival which is now celebrated around the world. My presentation comes complete with a story about why this festival is important (you can choose between a long or short version), a description of what happens and lots of colourful pictures of the event. In addition, you are able to read the lives of two Indian children as they get ready for Holi and what they do on the day. These could be printed off and read individually or they could be projected onto the interactive whiteboard and read as a class. The students could then think about how they would like to celebrate the coming of Spring and who knows, perhaps even have their own version of Holi in the classroom!

I have created presentations about different aspects of living in harmony with other people from other nations. It is great for harmony day and also the International Day For The Elimination Of Racial Discrimination. I have included a range of different presentations of different countries around the world. You are able to compare and contrast lives in other places. I have included stories from India, as this is the largest ethnic minority in the UK, and I thought it would be nice to see the differences and similarities between the two countries. I have also included 2 presentations about the Brexit (Brexit Conversation Ideas and International Day For the Elimination of Racial Discrimination - which covers Britain pre- and post Brexit and its crime rates).

A LITTLE Catechism, WITH LITTLE VERSES, AND LITTLE SAYINGS, FOR Little Children

I found the book A LITTLE Catechism, WITH LITTLE VERSES, AND LITTLE SAYINGS, FOR Little Children, printed for John Lawrence at the Angel in the Poultrey, 1692. I thought wouldn't it be fun to mix these old saying with some modern images. I converted the book into a set of three presentations to make it easy for a teacher to share and discuss them with the class. It is a nice way of seeing what ideas have endured the tests of time, and which ideas would now be considered a shocking idea. This is also a nice insight into what people believed in the Middle Ages.

Traditional Spring Poem - Complete, Without and Without Pictures and as a rhyming CLOZE

The chronicles of crows: A Tale of the Springtime (1848) - I have included the full poem, complete with the original pictures. I then provide it with the pictures and no words, and then the words and no pictures and finally as a simple CLOZE, where the students need to complete the missing word in the second line of each part of the poem. The pictures without words are a charming Victorian border. The students could write their own Spring poems in this section and make a lovely Spring display. I have always been drawn to crows, not in any dark teenage-poet way, but because they are big, handsome, super-clever, and remind me of the chilly Michigan spring. It seemed so charming at first, with the crows working together, building their homes, laying their eggs and raising their babies in great swooping flocks. But the story takes a ghastly turn as the nearby farmers gather to get rid of the rookery. I kept thinking that the smart, sassy crows would eventually outwit the mean, brutish humans. How wrong I was. The crows are shot and made into pies, even the young ones, and the birds that survive are left to mourn, “How well we know / There is no joy unmixed with woe.” Um, anyway, happy spring, and here’s a Monday assortment of pertinent items to help you get over the sense of mortal dread sinking in your chest after that morbid Victorian warning.
