A bundle of 4 resources suitable for the new AQA GCSE Chemistry syllabus. Resources on paper chromatography include a knowledge organiser containing all the facts on chromatography that students need to know, a differentiated 1-9 worksheet featuring exam style questions and a plenary chromatography traffic light quiz (useful for assessment for learning at the end of the lesson) and finally a cut and stick activity.
A complete set of topic worksheets on the A-Level concept transition metals. I use these worksheets for my students as we go through the topic. Worksheets include questions on electronic configuration, definitions, colour, shapes, naming, ligand exchange, deprotonation and complex formation. Answers to every question is included.
An A-Level Chemistry resource on redox calculations. Students have to work out oxidation numbers, then write redox half equations and combine them to get an overall ionic equation. Then they have to identify the oxidising/reducing agents. Answers are included.
A traffic light quiz on paper chromatography, students hold up the relevant coloured card to answer the questions in the quiz. Suitable for the new 2018 Chemistry GCSE. I use it as a plenary at the end of the lesson.
A 20 minute group work activity on calculating pH. Split class into 4 groups, each group containing all levels of ability (so that the brighter students can help the lower ability.) Each group given one of 4 questions to solve. Teacher circulates giving hints where needed. Once each group has solved their question (allow 5-10 mins). students then return to their original seat and have to teach the solution to their question to their colleague. A great way to encourage group work and has always been graded as an outstanding lesson when observed by leadership. Answers are included and a 5th question included at the end of the activity to illustrate progress.
3 resources on Rusting and corrosion suitable for KS5 lessons on the electrochemical series. PowerPoint explains how rusting occurs and shows students how to calculate Ecell for the overall rusting process. Then there's a worksheet (with answers) and a keyword match exercise.
Flash cards covering the new A-Level Edexcel 2015 specification. These are on topic 17 Carbonyl chemistry. Questions about structure, naming, phyaicsl properries, reactions, conditiond and mechanisms of the alcohols, aldehydes, ketones, carboxylic acids, acyl chlorides and Esters. Cards will print out back to back and only need cutting, takes 5 mins to prepare. Simply print back to back for question and answer.
A comprehensive revision resource on Amount of substance (Moles). The worksheet is differentiated with each section increasing in difficulty. The fully editable resource includes Answers for each section so that students can check their progress. This is the complete set of questions including the second half of this resource, with questions on moles, ionic equations, atom economy, empirical formulae, percentage yield etc. The 1st half is available free to look at and download on this website with questions on Mole calculations, RFM, ionic equations etc.
Flash cards on shapes of molecules suitable for the new A-Level chemistry syllabus (2015), students can test their knowledge of shapes of molecules, including linear, trigonal planar, tetrahedral, octahedral etc. Flash cards print out and ready to use immediately with answers on the reverse of each card, takes a few mins to slice & prepare a class set of cards.
An Alevel Chemistry knowledge organiser on entropy. Includes information on entropy, feasability, entropy of the system, surroundings, total entropy, Gibbs free energy, temperature at which a reaction becomes feasible etc. Comprehensively covers the whole of the entropy syllabus on one page.
An A-Level Chemistry resource on the electrochemical cell. Students cut and stick the correct labels into the Electrochemical cell diagram. Answers included.
A GCSE Chemistry knowledge organiser on the organic chemistry topic crude oil and fuels suitable for the new AQA Syllabus. Includes chemistry of the alkanes and alkenes (Crude oil, fractional distillation, cracking, fuels, reactions of alkanes and alkenes, naming, general formula and polymers.
An A-Level Chemistry resource on transition metal reactions with hydroxide ions suitable for the AQA Syllabus. Includes a colour chart of the hydroxide precipitates. The resource is editable.
An A-Level Chemistry resource on transition metal reactions with hydroxide ions suitable for the Edexcel Syllabus. Includes a colour chart of the hydroxide precipitates. The resource is editable.
An A-Level Chemistry knowledge organiser on Electrochemical cells. The file is editable and contains the theory behind Electrochemical cells and their calculations. Includes diagrams, equations and information on the hydrogen half cell, reduction potentials, strength of reducing agents, oxidising agents, how to draw electrochemical cells and represent them in cell diagrams.
An A-Level Chemistry knowledge organiser on the pH topic acid and base equilibria. Is in Power Point format and fully editable. Contains a summary of all the keypoints covered at A-Level.
A resource on the A-Level Chemistry topic "Acid and base equilibria" focussing on buffer calculations. This editable resources contains several sections of increasing difficulty. There are examples of many different types of exam questions that students could get in an exam. Takes about a double lesson to complete. Answers are included.
