This is the BEST way to introduce Shakespeare's language to children. They love it! I often start with a group of children who say they will never be able to speak Shakespeare's language and end with children wanted to take this resource home to use in their own time. The best part of the lesson is using this as a teacher vs pupil argument - the only time the children have permission to argue with you!

This resource is useful to use with a class as you are reading the story/ text. It clearly lays out how the characters of the 'lovers' are linked throughout the story to make it clear what is happening for any children who have, understandably, become a bit muddled in Shakespeare's comedy. However, I'm always surprised how quickly children can understand what is going on and how characters are linked, compared to adults new to the story - maybe a great tool for adults in school too!

Tip: I have included a blank second page of the old fashioned paper background so you can print double sided. I then burnt the edges of the paper to add to the effect and draw the children into the lesson. Use for children to read aloud the first 2 parts of the spell.

An original poem written to describe the battle at the end of Macbeth. This is great to use as a text to read as an example when teaching my 'Macbeth Sonnet Writing Lesson Plan' available to download on my TES Shop. The rhyming couplets are coloured at the end of each line to visually match the two rhyming words (couplet). Cut each line into strips and show the children how you can create the alternate rhyme pattern of 'a/b/a/b' with a couplet at the end you have a sonnet structure.
