If they get the question right make the tile their colour by clicking the blue or white boxes on each tile. The blue team win if they make a connected row across the screen, and the white team win if they make one going down. Because the blue team have another tile to complete, they should go first.

Decimal Subtraction Fill The Grid Starters

Two lesson starters, easily editable to consolidate decimal subtraction. Just play the slideshow as pupils enter and it will continue on a loop. Two squares of a 4 x 4 grid will be revealed on each slide, showing a question. Pupils have to draw the grid and complete it with the correct answers in each square. These resources engage pupils as they need to pay careful attention to see which answer goes where, and so they are settled, ready for the lesson ahead - this activity is ideal for low ability pupils as it gives them an activity they can access right at the start of the lesson.
Pythagoras Bingo Selection

Pythagoras Bingo Selection

(1)
Three great, engaging and easy to use bingo activities on Pythagoras Theorem with different difficulty levels to be targeted at your class. The answers are on the second slide for the pupils to choose at random. The files are in Powerpoint format so they can be used on any system. The first has questions purely on finding the hypotenuse, the second is a mix of finding the hypotenuse and the shorter side and the questions in the third mostly involve different units - for these questions the students are told on each slide what units to put their answer into.

Decimal Multiplication Complete Lesson

Decimal Multiplication Complete Lesson

(0)
Complete lesson on multiplying decimals. The lesson includes differentiated questions, including some application of knowledge questions. I have also included an exit pass activity for you to assess how well your pupils understood the lesson (though you may wish to do self assessment with it to save time). There are two main versions - the "cover" version includes extra explanation and complete working out of the main examples. The regular version omits this so that you can do the working with your pupils on the board, allowing more questioning and AfL opportunities in class etc. I have uploaded both versions in both Powerpoint and Powerpoint 97-03 formats.

Decimal Addition Treasure Hunt Activity
prof689prof689

Decimal Addition Treasure Hunt Activity

(0)
Treasure Hunt activity designed for pupils to practice decimal addition. Pupils can complete the task individually or in pairs. The cards should be cut out and stuck around the wall of the classroom. Pupils go and stand near one of the cards (in a pair or individually) - possibly whiteboards should be given to them for working out - and they start with that card. When they answer the question on the card they go and find the card that has that answer on, making a note of the order of the cards (the card numbers are at the bottom of the cards). When they get round to the card they started at, pupils are done and come to you to check their work. The correct order is included in the documents so you can see quickly where any mistakes have been made. Blank answer sheets are also included for pupils to write down the card numbers.

Decimal Subtraction Lesson Plan

Decimal Subtraction Lesson Plan

(0)
A complete lesson plan for subtracting decimals, accompanied by my codebreaker and treasure hunt activities as alternative/supplementary consolidation for pupils. There are two versions, one that walks pupils through the examples, designed for cover teachers who are not mathematics specialists, and a plainer version where examples will need to be completed by the teacher themselves as a demonstration for pupils.
