These are printed in 2 slide handouts and laminated they are then stuck to a number line made with red tape and 0.5m markers in green tape. A photo of the number line in my lab is provided to model how this activity may be set up. I have 2 number lines on the floor of my classroom at the front and back of the lab. Useful experiments on speed, diffusion and discontinuous vs continuous variables.

Photosynthesis High School tarsia - challenging - use as lesson starter, plenary or for revision

This is a fun yet challenging High School Biology tarsia for revision of photosynthesis. This can also be used as an assessment for learning tool at the end of the lesson. There are 16 triangles with 18 pairs of questions and answers that make an equilateral triangle. I suggest that the A4 tarsia is printed on card and then the outline is cut out. Students can then quickly cut out the individual triangles. Included are the following topics: organs of a plant, minerals, formulae of chemicals in the photosynthesis symbol equation, limiting factors and chlorophyll. The 'fjsw' file can be opened and modified with tarsia software. The software is free to download but there is not currently a version for Mac computers.

Students can use in a variety of plants lessons. Please rate this resource and leave feedback.

This is an adapted learning objectives slide that I created for a class as a printed homework slide (6 slides per page) on organ transplants. It is levelled in a similar though more concise way to Badger level assessed tasks. Feedback to rowan.savage@hotmail.com.

AFL Strategies 4 - spider web

This is a visually engaging and fun method for students to self assess their progress at the end of a class. If more than 1 web is used students could assess their progress at the start, during and end of a task as part of assessment for learning. Slides are printed as 6 slide handouts. Making predictions lesson plan

This is a lesson that was designed for and taught to year 7. It can be extended to 2 lessons by getting students to collect data in the first lesson and check the validity of their predictions in the 2nd lesson. Some of the slides can printed as 6 or 2 slide handouts to serve as worksheets or writing frames (e.g. learning objectives, table). Feedback to rowan.savage@hotmail.com.

Revision aids for science 1 - Mnemonics

I am putting together a series of science revision resources designed to improve success in science exams. This resource includes mnemonics for cell cycle, cis-trans isomers, enthalpy, food tests (buret etc) and protein structure. I will provide a student-friendly powerpoint for later in the year. Feedback to my TES inbox please. Let me know mnemonics that you would like to be included and I will add these to my list. The YouTube videos link to nemonic songs. I adapt the YouTube reactivity series nemonic to get more able students to include metals such as Tin and Platinum.
