I am curating this collection for students to use in projects and presentations about forensics, police, crimes, and for creative projects about detectives and who dunnits.
What is the origin of the word window, and what does it mean in Old Norse? Do we still use Vikings words in the English language today? I made this page for my students as part of our module on the Vikings in Britain.
A colouring page created for my students as part of our studies on the Vikings, who were employed by the Vanguard to guard the emperors in the heart of the Roman Empire - Byzantium (modern day Istanbul, Turkey).

A collection of resources from my own encounters with bugs and insects that I curated for my class and our minibeasts module. For use with ecology, colours, or habitat topics.

This resource could be used by students with English as a foreign language, as part of a rhymes or poetry lesson, for World Oceans Day topics, or alongside any class themes about oceans, pirates, explorers, or the Caribbean. It may also be of use in a debate about women on ships, and the historical role of pregnancy in the legal system. May also be of interest to students learning about Yellow Fever, vaccinations, immune system, and effects of alcohol.

A collection of photos from my encounters with migrating birds along the Baltic Sea coast of Latvia. Each Spring and Autumn the birds travel along the sand dunes in search of better weather. Please note that some of these were taken with slide film before the arrival of digital cameras. This collection will be added to over time. For use with ocean, animals, seaside, habitat, ecology, or environment topics.

I took these photos as I was writing my ‘Primary School Diaries’ novel, soon to be published on Amazon for ages 8 and up. As part of my planning I had stuck lots of post it notes on the wall to help me order my thoughts, and as I transferred the notes onto my computer, I scrunched each one up and threw it in a pile. The pile could look like failure, but to me it was a picture of success, or breaking down a big task into little bite size chunks, and the pile of screwed up paper growing as I achieved each little task. I hope these photos will inspire students with their own studying or challenges they face.
A PDF download and accompanying YouTube video about the origins of the nautical words ‘port’ and ‘starboard’. Would link in nicely with class topics such as World Oceans Day, Anglo Saxons, English language, oceans, and explorers.

Photos from my time living with a Bedouin community in the desert of Wadi Rhum, Jordan. Taken on slide film, before digital cameras were invented. May be useful for exploring other countries and cultures and comparing life where you live and life in a desert environment.
Where did monks live in Anglo-Saxon England? A Viking themed colouring activity to help students answer questions about Viking Age culture and beliefs. Ideal for primary school students, and students learning English as a foreign language.
Part of a Halloween A to Z alphabet series that I created for my students to colour in for Halloween. Can be used to help learn the alphabet or just for fun. I had my class think of as many other Halloween words as they could for each letter, and to create their own drawings.
A collection of breakfast photos from Britain that I will be adding to in time.
