Looking for a fun, interactive and engaging math activity to end your Measurement & Data Unit? Using Roller Coaster Data your students will: -Use data to represent specific pieces of information about roller coasters -Demonstrate the ability to collect, organize, and display data in number lines, bar graphs and line graphs. -Explain that data come in many forms and that collecting, organizing, and displaying data can be done in many ways. Student will collect data on roller coasters from two different theme parks. They will then design their own graph interpreting the data. Once they have completed their two data graphs, students will compare & contrast both graphs.

They will choose their destination, the accommodations and three attractions to visit - all while having to stay within their $1000 budget. This project includes math and language arts. Students will answer word problems and balance their budget. They will also write their opinion on attractions they have visited. The final part of the project is creating three virtual postcards from locations your students have "visited". I have provided a template in PPT and a link for the Google Classroom. All you have to do is print this out and the project is ready to go. Complete Student Examples Included for each step of the project. Project rubric included.

Have your students shop for a Thanksgiving meal using a Target sales paper. It's all about math and what you can purchase to save the most money. Students will use the attached sales paper and find the items listed on their shopping list. Students will have to choose between Column A and Column B to decide which item is the most cost effective. Students will use addition, subtraction and multiplication of decimals for this activity. In my classroom, I like to use real world scenarios to enforce the importance of learning and truly understanding math skills. Too often students say "Why do I need to know this?". This worksheet is about planning a birthday party for your classmates. Using the data in the world problem, students will collect, organize and analyze the information to solve the problem.
