Fun science or STEM/STEAM activity for a fun lesson, like the end of term.
You will need: lots of scrap A4 paper (you can use more, but it’s a great way to recycle unneeded worksheets at the end of a term/year), scissors, tape and masses (you can use anything for this, but 100g masses work best).
There are a range of ‘events’ that you can time as long as you want (and you don’t need to complete them all). Students get points for Gold, Silver and Bronze for each event. Most points wins.

A set of revision tasks that fit HL IB chemistry (Can be easily adapted for AS/A-level chemistry or iGCSE/GCSE chemistry). Students have to solve a series of puzzles to come up with combinations for locks etc.
Includes:
Colours of transition metal ions
Universal indicator colours
Properties of ionic and covalent substances
Isomers and hydrocarbon formulae
Moles calculations
Answers and instructions are included in the slides. Can edit to make a student slide by removing the answers from the comments parts of the slide.
Works great virtually over Microsoft Teams, put the students into small groups and get them to video chat in their groups over Teams and tell you each code in order for them to be let onto the next task. One student can share/present the ppt. First Team to escape wins.
