Employability - Soft Skills

(0)
These are cards with various soft skills, designed to aid discussions and activities relating to employability skills, soft skills and transferable skills. These can be used as prompts for learners to think of situations they have dealt with in order to evidence it for interviews or CVs, Personal Statements and Application Forms.

Team member style self assessment - team work, teamwork, worksheet

(0)
This is a quick little worksheet for learners to find out how they work in a team environment. Learners grade each role as to whether it sounds like them or not, and the highest scoring role is their role. They can then use this information to develop their team working skills. It also allows learners to evaluate if they have leadership qualities, initiative, and communication and negotiation skills which can then be developed further using other activities and assessment. This can also demonstrate how different types of people can work well as a team, and that everyone works in different ways and have different strengths to contribute.

Discussion Cards Considerate Constructors Scheme - code of practice, behaviour

(0)
I work with trade students so discussing the Considerate Constructors Scheme is important so that they know what is expected of behaviour and attitude on a construction site, which is similar to what we expect at college. After speaking to them about the CCS Code of Practice, I split the class into 5 groups and give them a different card to discuss how they can show that they adhere to this code while they are at college.
Mental Health Card Activity

Mental Health Card Activity

(0)
These cards are designed to get learners thinking about different, common, mental health disorders. In groups, learners research one disorder and present back to the class. Or, in groups, learners brainstorm what they know about the disorder - symptoms, changes of behaviour, things that might help. Or tutor could describe scenarios for the learners to match with the disorder.

80 UK Crimes and Penalties - Higher or Lower Card Game

(0)
this is a set of 80 cards with various crimes and the maximum penalty. This is a great game to play when teaching about UK crimes and penalties - a good resource for covering Rule of Law in British Values. Play it like The Price is Right - show one card, read the crime on the next card and have the group guess whether the penalty would be higher or lower. Alternatively, you can use them for discussion tools and other teaching relating to fines, prison sentences and penalties linked to driving offenses, theft, fraud, criminal damage and drink and drugs.

Progress Tutor and Teacher Tools

6 Resources
These are tools I use in my job that are essential for tracking work to be completed, to show learner progress and for tracking attendance and retention. For use by Progress tutors and teachers who want an easier way to maintain and manage their own records.

Report Card - for improving learner attendance

(0)
This is a handy tool for monitoring learners attendance to their course, GCSEs and other commitments they are required to attend. I give these to learners who are not attending GCSEs as this can evidence your attempts to improve their attendance.

PSHE Progress and Destination Tutor Scheme of work and brief lesson plans

(0)
This is a scheme of work I designed as a Progress and Destination Tutor. You can edit it to make it your own or make it more relevant to the subject you support. This is geared up for building trade students. It includes 30 brief lesson plans. Some of the resources on the lesson plans are ones I have uploaded to TES. Lessons embed Maths and English where appropriate, and cover a wide range of subjects (see photo of contents).
Business Plan Activity/Project

Business Plan Activity/Project

(0)
This was a business plan project I created to get my learners thinking about setting up their own company, things they would need to be aware of and research they would have to complete. I spread this out over several weeks, completing an hour lesson at a time, beginning with a talk on the subject, then allow the students to complete their research and fill in the appropriate page. This can be printed out or completed electronically to save trees!

Face Proportions Lesson - Power Point and Handout

This lesson contains a Power Point presentation taking learners through the history of body proportions in art, a brief explanation of measuring by eye, and then step by step instructions of drawing a face to proportion. Included is a handout to give to learners detailing each stage of drawing the facial proportions.
