I have been Head of RE, Pastoral Lead and Head of PSHE & Citizenship in my 19 year teaching career. I am currently Head of PSHE & Citizenship at a large secondary school 11-18. My shop includes: PSHE and Citizenship sessions, Assemblies, Tutor Time activities SMSC, Fundamental British Values and Religious Education. This is a comprehensive list of hundreds of relevant awareness days for a primary or secondary school. It maps the entire academic year and includes over 400 different dates and days. This is useful for pastoral leaders, PSHE leads, SLT or anyone that is putting together an assembly rota, bulletin, calendar or diary for the academic year starting September 2023. It includes cultural, religious, personal, health and social awareness days and has been triple checked for accuracy. I have pulled together all of the dates so you won’t find a more comprehensive diary anywhere. This will be a document that is updated as more dates are added next year or there are any changes. It brings together all of the useful special days for schools to focus on as part of their PSHE, Citizenship, Fundamental British Values, SMSC, Healthy Schools, Character Education, Finance Education, Religious Education and whole school ethos. All of the proceeds of this resource will be given to Save the Children for Ukrainian refugees. This is a 15-20 minute assembly or tutor time PSHE session on keeping safe both walking to and from school, in the local community and online. It can be shortened or lengthened to be used for a whole lesson. It follows the Relationships, Sex & Health Curriculum introduced in 2020 and explains how students can keep safe. It was delivered to KS3, KS4 and KS5 with excellent feedback. The PowerPoint contains videos, discussion tasks but no written tasks. It includes: Why we should keep safe Times we need to stay safe 7 ways to keep safe How to stay safe on the journey to and from school Crime statistics (Using Birmingham figures but can easily be changed to another city using the link in the notes) Knife Crime Staying safe online Discussion of quote for plenary Two downladed clipped videos that will never disappear. This session is suitable for Ages 11-18 (KS3, KS4, KS5, Years 7-13, Grades 6-12) and can be easily adapted.

This is a 10-15 minute narrated assembly or Citizenship tutor time session on the no-confidence vote regarding Boris Johnson on 8th June 2022. This was to inform the students about what was going on in government, teach them about democracy and give room for debate. This could easily be lengthened to an hour’s lesson by holding a more formal debate. It is suitable for KS3-KS5 (Ages 11-18, Years 7-13, Grades 6-12) and can be used as an assembly or part of the Citizenship, PSHE, FBV, SMSC or tutor time programmes. This was to inform the students about what was going on in the rail strikes, teach them the difference between public and private sector workers and give room for debate about industrial action. This could easily be lengthened to an hour’s lesson by holding a more formal debate. This is a 10-15 minute assembly about World Hunger Day, specifically in 2022 but could easily be adapted for other years. It is suitable for KS3-KS5 (Ages 11-18, Years 7-13, Grades 6-12) and includes a point of reflection/discussion activity at the end that could easily be lengthened with planning an activity if you wanted it to last for a 60-90 minute lesson instead. It was used as an assembly for the whole school Ages 11-18 and was received very well by the students. It includes: What World Hunger Day is The theme for 2022 Why World Hunger Day is important A downloaded and clipped short video which will never disappear with a quick message about World Hunger Day Statistics to highlight how serious world hunger is right now Statistics and infograms about world hunger, focusing particularly on children A downloaded and clipped short video which will never disappear with a quick message about how unprecedented the situation with world hunger is in 2022 Ways to help the situation and become an active citizen both now and when they are older A downloaded and clipped short video which will never disappear with a quick message about how hunger is a solvable problem Images that express the theme A discussion / reflection point about what they will do to stop world hunger This is a narrated PowerPoint but it can easily be changed by deleting the icon on each slide if you would prefer it not narrated. This session fits into the Citizenship and PSHE curriculum but also covers SMSC, History, Geography and Fundamental British Values. Students reacted very well to this as an assembly and many interesting discussions came from it. It is suitable for KS3-KS5 (Ages 11-18, Years 7-13, Grades 6-12) and includes many discussion activities that could easily be lengthened as written activities if you wanted it to last for a 60-90 minute lesson instead. It was used as a Citizenship whole school tutor time session in May. This is a document that has been invaluable in preparing Year 13 A Level RS Students for the Philosophy and Ethics topics in the Advanced Information for this year’s exams in June 2022. This is a PPoint presentation that has lots of practice questions on from each of the 8 topics for the Philosophy and Ethics papers. I have used this as a carousel activity by cutting them up and sticking them on A3 paper and getting students to write one argument and then the next to write a point of evaluation about the other student’s point. I have also used this to test students and to provide them with a good aid for revision.

This is a 10-15 minute assembly on online abuse. It is suitable for KS3-KS5 (Ages 11-18, Years 7-13, Grades 6-12) and is great for an assembly or a tutor time PSHE or Personal Development session. It covers: Link to FIFAs online abuse campaign Definition of online abuse Actions that are considered abuse A short downloaded video clip about the 9 protected characteristics which will never disappear Reasons why online abuse is unacceptable What students should do if they experience online abuse (change the logo to your local police force) A short downloaded video clip with a case study about how online abuse made a young person feel Points to remember Finishing slide It is a fully narrated assembly but this can easily be changed by deleting the icon on each slide. This presentation was as a result of online abuse happening within the school community and it was a very effective presentation for the whole school.
