This lesson is an extension from the first lesson on removing a bracket with a common factor outside. The lesson starts with more complicated examples from the previous lesson, before moving onto the trinomial problems. The lesson also contains a worksheet with answers.

This lesson is a follow on from the lesson on differentiation by first principles. Following that lesson and homework, students should by now have realised a shorter approach with differentiation. This lesson develops that understanding, whilst still remaining with the positive power. There is an assumption here that they would have met Tangents and Normals to the curve through their geometry work. The lesson also contains a worksheet for students to work through.

This lesson and worksheet looks at the knowledge of the angle subtended from an arc and the angle from the same arc to the centre of the circle.

This lesson and worksheet looks at the knowledge of circle theorems and the angle properties between a tangent and a given chord.

This lesson is designed for my Key stage 4 classes. Through a series of worked examples the class revise how to find the number of sides for a regular polygon or the size of interior and exterior angles. Plus further problems. The lesson also contains a worksheet with solutions.

This lesson follows the lessons taught on differentiation. The opening slide introduces integration as the reverse of differentiation. Then through a variety of examples students get used to integration.

Following on from the lesson on indefinite integral. This lesson looks at the limits attached to a given integral.

A lesson teaching students the general integrals they need to know for the A2 material of calculus. A worksheet is also attached which can be used as classwork or as a piece of homework.

These two lessons look at the compound angles. Proof on formulae first followed by a series of examples.

Having taught the Compound Angles the next lesson is this lesson which looks at the double angle formulae and examples of situations where the knowledge is required.

This lesson and worksheet introduces the students to the work Domain and how we can obtain the range through the sketch of various curves.

GCSE Run around Game 6 This game is aimed at foundation students who have just been revising certain topics. Topics covered in this game are Sequences nth term Solving equations Dividing into a given ratio Factorising Decimals. This activity is aimed at Foundation students who are revising for their GCSE examination. Each round consists of four questions. Print the slides 8 to 13 on A4 paper and place one printed slide per table. Students are put into pairs (either by choice or teacher selection) and are given a copy of slide 14 and a few sheets of pieces of A4 paper. The pairs are designated a starting table and the timer (slide 2) is started. The students are then given 5 minutes to answer the four questions on that table. Once the five minutes is up the students move clockwise to the next table and start the next set of four questions and the timer of slide 3 is started. This continues until all students have completed the six tables worth of questions. The answering of the questions takes no more than 30 minutes. Students then remain at their final table, swap their answer sheet with the nearest table and the answers are produced. At this stage I go through the questions before revealing the answers. In this way the students have had a go at GCSE style foundation questions and have also seen a demonstration as to how they should have been answered. Finally, students add up their score and the highest score get a prize!

This revision lesson looks at working out a percentage of a quantity with a calculator. The revision continues then looks at percentage increase, decrease and concludes with compound measures. The lesson is therefore ideal for both foundation or higher level students.

This series of slides consists of twenty mathematical questions with a Christmas theme. The idea is to keep students entertained in the final days/weeks of the term whilst also doing some good quality maths work. The questions can be answered with or without a calculator. Answers are provided at the end. Merry Christmas.

This PowerPoint is a revision lesson were students revise the ability to work out y coordinates for a given quadratic curve and then draw the curve. The lesson is structured so that they follow two examples at the board before attempting the next two by themselves, before looking at a couple of more complicated questions. Then once again having a go at a couple. The revision lesson (as with most of my revision lessons) are designed to last at least one hour in length. I tend to get the students to copy the examples in their book.

These worksheets (and answers) look at solving simple equations moving u to solving equations involving a bracket. I use these worksheets initially to compliment the lesson being taught and subsequent worksheets are follow up through out the year to help with retention.

This series of worksheets looks at sequences. Continuing a sequence, the nth term of a linear sequence and the nth term of a quadratic sequence. I use these worksheets initially to accompany the lessons being taught and then as followup work to help with retention.

Introduction lessons to fractions of a quantity ideal for Key stage 2 or key stage 3 children. The first lesson looks at one half, one third, etc... of a quantity followed by one or two worksheets if required. The second lesson then looks at slightly more complicated fractions of a quantity. Again with worksheets to accompany the lesson.
