This is a revision guide for Y6 children preparing for the Arithmetic test (SATs). It can be used in the days before as a last minute guide to the four calculations, BODMAS, percentages and fractions. My class found it very useful, and I shall use it again over the next few days.

It includes various questions based on the 3 areas of maths (fluency, reasoning and problem solving). It also includes the independent work - 3 challenges for differentiation. A 4 week unit of work based upon Graffiti. This includes the 4 lesson plans, which take up a half day session (can spend longer than 4 weeks if taught in shorter blocks). It leads the children through the process of using graffiti and is linked to Black History Month

This knowledge organiser is based on the novel Kensuke’s Kingdom and supports children writing a newspaper article (child falling overboard). It includes Y5/6 spellings, challenging vocabulary, objectives specifically for Y6, grammar prompts, and planning guidance.

This planning was used post SATs as part of the children's transition work. If focuses on 13 lessons (depending on lesson lengths) and cover cross curricular. The children loved the novel and this planning helped to look at key themes which arose.

A reading questionnaire that as English Lead have used in my schools to assess the use and coverage of Reading for Pleasure in my school. It comes with an analysis (set to 30 per range, which just needs numbers to be inputted for Pie Charts to change). This was shared as an easy guide with SLT and for future provision to be set.

Three weeks planning (and many covering resources) for persuasive writing which is based around a letter to the PM persuading them that the practice of ‘Lions bred for hunting’ in Africa should be banned. This was used in Y6, however can be adapted for Y5/7. The class had drama on a Wednesday, so each week covers 4 lessons.

This knowledge organiser is based on the poem ‘Dulce et Decorum Est’ by Wilfred Owen. It contains all key information, vocabulary and discussions needed for children to gain a deeper understanding of the themes related to this poem. Perfect for revision. I used this in Y6, but can be used in any older year.

A PowerPoint to use when delivering an INSET based on ensuring lessons are sequential in whole class shared reading KS2. It is based upon the content domains and ensures lessons following a sequence. There is an example of a week of lessons for Y6 based upon the 2019 SATs reading test.

This includes 3 weeks planning on historical diaries and all resources, including Activinspire flipcharts for each lesson. It is based on the stunning novel 'Once' by Morris Gleitzman about WW2 and a child fleeing to find his parents. Many resources refer to My Secret War Diary, which is excellent for using extracts. This was aimed at my Y6 class, however can be used with Y5 or Y7+ if needed. The work produced by my class was stunning and the children fell in love with the novel.

This resource is intended to use for teaching Rap Poetry to Y6 - it really captures the interest of boys. There are 8 days planning included, alongside the Activinspire charts for each day, examples of poems to use with the 3 different ability groups, a self assessment grid and pictures. The poems are copyright to the given poets.
