Show a list of names and ask the students to see how many they recognize and why they are famous.
Next page shows their fame and can be used to talk about any that were missed by the students.
Now reveal one by one what their musical skills are.
Can be enhanced by showing videos from youtube there are some of Nathan Ake that will be good for the footballing boys of him playing piano.
The last few pages show how a more unknown to them Maurice Murphy who was lead trumpet of the London Symphony Orchestra has been a big part of their lives. His trumpet is the iconic sound in Star Wars, Superman, Raiders of the Lost Ark and Harry Potter , amongst others.
The aim is to encourage students to take up an instrument and to view it as a good thing that actually is quite cool!

Match the side of the triangle with a definition of the element.
The larger shape has blanks all around the outer edge.
The solution is shown on the pdf.
The main puzzle is on two sheets of paper and the correct answers are not linked so students could cut out their own puzzles.
Can be used as a starter or mid topic to check understanding.
Tarsia matching puzzle for Musical Elements. This version 2 is more complex and should be used after the Musical Elements tarsia. In this example there are more elements to be matched and also instead of a definition you are matching key words. e.g Dynamics - piano.
The shape is a large hexagon when completed and the outside edges are blank.
The solution is included and on the other two pages the puzzle to be cut out and completed. The two page puzzle is set up so printing out the solutions are not seen. This enable the puzzles to be cut out by the students in the lesson.
