Spanish 50 Classroom Commands and Total Physical Response (TPR) - Get your students moving with this TPR reference that provides 50 affirmative Uds. commands for use in the classroom. Many include one or more nouns that can be used with the verbs to facilitate doing TPR with your students. While most commands are for common actions done in the classroom, this reference also includes a few for the sole purpose of vocabulary building with TPR because they are useful verbs and easy to act out. French Cognate Human Bingo Get to Know You Activity - Help beginning students get to know their classmates and build confidence about learning French with this fun ice-breaker cognate activity. They'll be reading, comprehending, and speaking French right from the start! Each student mingles with a bingo grid and must ask classmates if the grid facts apply to them. The grids contain sentences such as, "Je danse dans le studio." There will be words that students don't know, but all squares contain easily recognizable cognates that will help students navigate meaning. Spanish Art Creative Writing Activity - Las Meninas by Diego Velazquez - Students use their imaginations and creativity as they complete 8 callout speech bubbles on Las Meninas, the masterpiece by Diego Velazquez. Each student mingles with a bingo grid and must find different classmates that can reply yes to the questions in each of the 16 boxes. Each box contains a question with a stem change verb that must be conjugated. The type of stem change is included for student reference. A sample question is: ¿Almorzar (o-ue) en la cafetería todos los días? When a student replies yes to a question, the questioning student follows up by asking in Spanish for the student's signature. The goal is to be the first student to fill the entire bingo grid. Verbs used include: cerrar, volver, poder, soñar con, querer, empezar, preferir, devolver, reír, pensar, medir, mentir, servir, recordar, competir, and probar. Also included is a follow up worksheet that requires students to: 1. Write a sentence for each of the 16 boxes in the grid. The student includes the name of the student that signed the box and must change the verb to the third person. 2. Provide the English meaning of each verb. 3. Write an appropriate Spanish stem change infinitive under 6 images at the bottom of the paper. This is a great back to school speaking review activity for students with prior Spanish experience.
