These are 1-page word searches with space for definitions and additional space to have students write out the keywords three times to improve spelling. There are also 2 to page versions which also have a small space below for a single definition and single three-times write up. These are useful starters and the 1-page versions are appropriate for an extended activity or homework. There is enough for use in 9 lessons. 9 starters and then can use one-page versions as homework

There are sources to examine from textbooks. These files can be edited down so you can use just a few sources with your classes. The regular lesson is very similar but uses original sources from the time. This can be edited down to make it easier for your class. Swimming Sheet can be re examined as homework.

This is a good coda lesson after you have taught about the Abolitionists and the End of Slavery in Great Britain. It makes use of the song as evidence and frames the factors behind abolition in a different light. I recommend having different versions of the song, so you can have them playing for students unfamiliar with the song. Home Free Vocal Band have a wonderful acapella version.

These PPTs and DOCs examine the Cannon-Fodder source made famous by the leaders at the Treaty of Versailles. Basic speeches sheets put incorrect phrases into the leaders' mouths. Students have to sort these out. Good for a starter. This is a History lesson (or two, depending on the students’ progress or ability) which examines the Gas attacks through sources and then determines the gas’ effectiveness through that prism. Yes, this could be a fun lesson. After my class tackles a few sources and see what the author was trying to do we move onto the famous Keep Calm Poster. This is planned out in class and the students finish it for homework. The mini-lesson leads you straight to the Keep Calm Task. The lesson could be extended into two lessons if you want to explore propaganda in greater detail.
