Learning Objective: To use drawing and collage to create an imaginative composition. This is an accessible creative project that really gets my students into a flow state and can last for 5 to 8 lessons. I usually do it with year 8. All you need are black pens, glue sticks, A3 computer paper & collage pages (included in the download). Prep is easy- print out the collage pages and cut or trim down each A4 page into smaller collage pieces. Students then select 5 or so collage pieces to glue down and then have to fill up the page with their drawings. -Use this resource to add purpose and build skills in any lesson where students will be drawing an object. -Can be used as a Baseline test for year 9 and GCSE Art students. -Includes a lesson plan outline and differentiation. The Activity: 1. Gather a variety of objects (we use shoes, wooden mannequins, bottles, spray cans etc) and have them out on the table ready for each student. 2. Have students section an A3 paper into 4 and complete 4 separate studies of the same object progressively working from least difficulty to most challenging using: pencil, pen, ink wash technique (black fineliner with a wet paintbrush overtop) and colouring pencil.
