This PowerPoint introduces students to the context behind the poem wounds and also the poet. The students complete a ‘Do Now’ and then assess their prior knowledge of Northern Ireland which then leads into discussion. They are given a background to the poet before observing the poem after completing a mini task relating to the title. There is also a YouTube video relating to Bloody Sunday which gives students a visual before completing a task on their first impressions of the poem. This is the first lesson from two where the poem will be analysed in detail-language and structure. *NB: To make this more student friendly, the comment on the Pope was removed-this can be changed at your own discretion.

This is a detailed scheme of work (over 40 pages) that I created as part of our new scheme of work for the upcoming academic year. The SOW places emphasis on the students’ prior learning before this unit and this is mentioned in detail at the start. Each of the 24 lessons have a similar structure and can be easily followed. This PowerPoint is a general introduction to AFOREST and how it can be used in Room 101. This lesson can be easily changed for remote learning as it has elements of both remote and classroom learning. The structure is based on a ‘Do Now’ followed by a ‘Think-Pair-Share’ activity. It then allows the teacher to teach AFOREST in the way they wish depending on the groups ability. The PowerPoint then has a quiz that can be altered adhering to the school and a sample paragraph where students are to highlight/underline AFOREST techniques. This lesson explores the marriage of Romeo and Juliet at the end of Act 2 Scene 2. There is an extract exercise included where students explorer the connotations and Juliet’s view on love. Also a paired exercise for Romeo’s and Friar’s contrasting attitudes in Act 2 Scene 3.

This PowerPoint in an introduction to Lord Byron’s ‘When We Two Parted’. The lesson poses questions to students in terms of poetic techniques and also what message the poet is trying to portray. It then relates back to the theme of love and relationships before a plenary.

This can be used for an English or Extra English class. Within the PowerPoint it prompts students to think of the context and the books setting. This leads students to use empathy with the characters within the book.

A lesson that teaches students how to do map grid references. in order to make it more accessible to students, the lesson has ‘The Simpsons’ theme where students have to locate characters such as Bart, Lisa etc on the PowerPoint

This lesson teaches students about Europe in terms of location, cities and also rivers through multiple exercises. There is also a quiz where students have to guess the European country. This can be done with an aided map in the students’ diary depending on the group. There are also printable maps where students can write the location of Europe on both a ‘Global Scale’ and ‘Regional Scale’.
