This lesson teaches students about Europe in terms of location, cities and also rivers through multiple exercises. There is also a quiz where students have to guess the European country. This can be done with an aided map in the students’ diary depending on the group. There are also printable maps where students can write the location of Europe on both a ‘Global Scale’ and ‘Regional Scale’.

This lesson gives students an idea of how climate change will effect our world in various forms. The main activity is to get students analyzing all possibly causes (both positive and negative) and write what effect this will have on people and the environment. This is shown on a printable mind-map.

A PowerPoint which studies key scenes that Lady Macbeth is involved in as part of an assessment question. There are questions embedded within the PowerPoint and also analysis of extracts.

This lesson introduces students to Macbeth by posing questions in relations to historical context and staging at the time. Throughout the PowerPoint students have to answer questions and engage with images from the play to aid them in their understanding of the play as they read it.

This lesson was given during an Ofsted observation as part of a Vocational Humanities group but it can also be used for a Geography class while studying tsunami’s. The lesson is in relation to the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami and opens with a movie trailer of The Impossible to give students a visual of a tsunami. Students then are to write what is happening in each diagram and use key words to describe the processes involved within a tsunami.

This lesson starts by taking students real-life knowledge into account by starting the class by asking students to write how the weather outside makes them feel? The lesson then builds on this knowledge by giving students extra information. The main activity is to read a chapter from The Hobbit where pathetic fallacy is used.

This lesson goes through the various social, economic and environmental reasons why Haiti is seen as a low income country (LIC). There are many exercises within this PowerPoint which is printable and it is very much a student orientated lesson with 5 exercises with information given to aid students throughout with facts and figures. The lesson ends with homework which is to research why Haiti is poor.

An observation lesson for a low-set year 7 class outlining the differences between latitude and longitude through visual representation. The lesson finishes with a plenary quiz that students can do in their books or mini-whiteboards.

An interview lesson for a mixed ability group of year 7 students introducing them to the poem. The lesson opens by tapping into students’ initial thoughts of what things they do during Half Term Break (Mid Term Break). This, similar to the poem allows the students to empathise with Heaney through analysis of the poem through Q&A discussion and a main exercise which asks students to find poetic techniques.

An observation lesson with my Year 7 students introducing them into Crime in London. The ‘Do Now’ task is to get students to think of the real-life knowledge of crime. The main task is to complete a choropleth map of crime in London where students are given data to complete this by representing this by colouring in the map which is included.

This PowerPoint starts with a ‘Think-Pair-Share’ task. It then has various exercises from gap-fill to an exam question with the aid of a fact sheet of Dharavi. These are all printable resources within the PowerPoint. The resource also includes 6 accounts of peoples own experience of Dharavi which can lead to open discussion or for students to write the positives and negatives of living in Dharavi.

PowerPoint on how to redevelp Dharavi by giving them the task of being the Mayor of Dharavi. Students must use critical thinking in order to come up with solutions to the problem. It comes with a information sheet on Dharavi’s redevelopment.

This resource was used as part of a lesson observation with a lower set. The resource includes a differentiated starter task and also two main tasks where students annotate the scene using prompts. This is to be done in pairs. It also has a plenary. The main outcome of this lesson is to show how the different social classes influences The Policeman’s treatment of both Ms Johnstone and Mr Lyons.

This PowerPoint lesson is in relation to mainly chapter 3 ‘The Snatch’ but also refers to previous chapters. The main activity within this PowerPoint is where students use their imagination and put themselves in Sophie’s shoes and use the ‘negative feelings’ sheet to help them describe when The BFG took them. It also has a PDF of a ‘Missing’ Poster that students can do in class or for homework.

This is a PowerPoint that I used with a mixed ability Year 7 group. This could also be used with a year 6 group in Primary. This is a lesson where students really enjoyed the mixture of many activities that get the best from students and is student-led. A summary of Roald Dahls short story ‘First Day’. This have been used with a mixed ability Year 7 group after we worked on an a piece of writing about their first day in seconday school.

A PowerPoint that I made for my lower ability Year 10 GCSE group. There is a matching activity within the PowerPoint where students use the pictures to find the line or lines of the poem that relates to the picture. There are also opportunities to have your own questions depending on your group and an opportunity for students to practice their presentation skills.
