A scaffolded worksheet that guides students through working out the area of a shaded shapes when a circle is removed from a bigger circle.
First task demonstrates the separate parts to first work out the ares, then combine them.
Second task promotes the students identifying the parts them selves and then calculating the area.

Expanding double brackets using the grid method
A few quick slides to model using the grid method to expand double brackets at a fairly basic level, which can be easily adapted. Also includes an algebra puzzle to introduce the idea of the grid method and some practice questions.
