These revision cards are aimed to support the learning for the examination of lower and middle prior attainers who struggle to process the complexities of the Cold War at GCSE. The contain a comprehensive bank of cards which highlight the key features of Cold War events, and the importance of each event for the development of the Cold War as demanded by Edexcel. The cards are simple and to the point. They can be cut up and the students can test each other on the events and play games with the cards. Aimed at students aspiring to attain levels 4-6 in the examination. There are 72 cards in total which cover 36 key Cold War events.

They give the students the opportunity to examine humanism and the Renaissance period, and continue with an in depth look into the dissolution of the monasteries with a focus on the findings in various monasteries around the country. This resource was created to celebrate VE Day and is suitable for both primary and secondary school students. It can be used either as an assembly or a lesson or both. The first half of the presentation can be used as an assembly (approx 20 mins) or as an introduction to a lesson. It contains images; clips and explanations of the aftermath of World War 2 and why we celebrate VE day. If you are going to use it as a lesson you would present the introduction and use the rest of the powerpoint for an inferences and modeled evaluative writing task which is included in the second part of the presentation. The focus of the lesson is whether or not in light of the destruction caused in the Second World War we can really call it a ‘victory.’ The whole lesson would take approximately an hour to teach.

This resource has been created for either key stage 2 students transitioning to secondary school, or key stage 1 students moving into middle school. It has a humanities theme and contains tasks; ice-breakers and games to help the students relax; build confidence and make relationships while they learn. It begins with an ice-breaker. The students then learn about chronology - a paper task in pairs, and then a challenge where they have to move around the room talking to each other. It end with a geography and RE game where again all of the new students can learn about each other. You will need about an hour to do all of the activities, however some can be cut out if time does not permit.

This assembly is suitable for either Key Stage 2 or 3 students (maybe Key Stage 1). It is based on different traditions around the world at Christmas time. It contains 2 clips - one on Christmas traditions and a short one on the Nativity. It then goes on to discuss different traditions in selected countries. It would take about 20-30 minutes to deliver, and provides opportunities for students to think about their own traditions and what is important to the, I have included a ‘Christmas in 21 different languages’ wordsearch and quiz to accompany this if it was to be delivered as a lesson instead of an assembly.
