About the English Department:

Part of the English, Media and Modern Foreign Languages Faculty, the English department is a leading department within the school with a superb literacy programme and a strong uptake at Sixth Form for English Literature A-level. Our GCSE 2022 results saw 92% of students achieve grades 4 to 9 in both English Literature and English Language and 81% of A- Level English Literature students achieve grades C to A* but we are more than just statistics; our department is a nurturing and developmental environment and the Douay Martyrs English Department is the perfect place to develop or begin your career. 


The successful candidate will: 

·        Be an excellent experienced teacher or an ECT who is motivated to teach engaging lessons that will stimulate and challenge all students.

·        Have expert knowledge both of the subject and the Curriculum.  

·        Be a passionate, determined team player who is able to reflect on their own practise

·        Be able to, plan and deliver effective and high quality lessons to all key stage groups, maximising student progress.   

·        Be a reliable advocate for our young people, keen to build strong relationships founded on mutual respect and compassion.
