“College Online”

Speaking of Curriculum Online, it has gone largely unnoticed that schools will not be the only beneficiaries of the wonders of digital learning resources. The post-16 sector is set to get its very own “College Online” if the DFES takes on board the recommendations of the e-learning task force that delivered its report last month. Education secretary Estelle Morris has welcomed the unimaginatively titled document, “Get On With IT”, so chances are College Online will become reality. With many FE colleges investing in managed learning environments it seems a sensible suggestion. But will e-learning ever really take off in colleges? Considering many lecturers are paid less than school teachers, there is not much incentive for them to try to make that happen.
