Winning cyber awards may encourage the Government to improve what it puts on the web. The flagship National Grid for Learning (http:ngfl.gov.uk) remains one of the most difficult sites to search in any meaningful way. The search facility is thankfully due for an overhaul, but fear of parent pwer, rather than teachers’ needs, seems to be behind the redesign: “We want the site to be more parent-friendly,” says a DfEE spokesperson. Those who have already ditched the site from their favourites folder should try again next month, when the new search facility will be in place.
