Up to 12,000 pupils in some of Britain’s most disadvantaged areas are set to gain access to the latest educational technology through the e-Learning Foundation and the Department for Education and Skills’ Wired Up Communities initiative. Schools in Alston in Cumbria, Carpenter’s Estate in Newham in east London, east Manchester, Framlingham in Suffolk and Blackburn East will get laptops, electronic whiteboards and other technology worth almost pound;4 million. The foundation, at stand T63 at BETT, will support and encourage the schools to make best use of the technology and promote learning in their communities.
