A PUPIL with special educational needs from a tiny primary school in north Cornwall has given children across Britain a glimpse of the future, writes Lisa Hutchins.
Davy Gaspar-Yates, nine, a pupil at St Issey primary, in Churchtown St Issey, won a pound;1,000 prize for his school in a competition run by TES Primary magazine.
He won with a design for a house of the future which included triple-glazed windows, solar panels and wind turbines.
The judges felt his dsign combined practicality with imagination. His achievement is all the more impressive because he has Asperger’s syndrome, an autism-related condition. His entry features in the October issue of the magazine along with the designs of runners-up.
Judges said they were impressed with the standard of entries which they described as “exuberantly inventive” and acutely energy-conscious.
