BUDDING Indiana Joneses can find out how archaeologists track down their treasures by joining one of Redbridge council’s free digs at a local library this autumn and winter.

Redbridge Museum Service is going “Out on Site” on Saturdays around local libraries until January 18, 2003, giving young people a chance to discover archaeology.

Young investigators can dig for hidden history, detect evidence using a microscope and conduct their own scientific experiments. They can also handle real artefacts and find out what it takes to look after them.

Sessions are suitable for children over six years of age but under-10s should be accompanied by an adult, so families are very welcome.

Tickets are free but must be booked in advance by ringing Redbridge Museum on 020 8708 2317. The “Out on Site” session is also available to community groups who can arrange for the presenters to come to their premises.
