Judge rejects Microsoft offer

An American judge has rejected Microsoft’s plan to give more than $1 billion in software, hardware and training to 12,500 of the poorest schools in the United States to settle more than 100 lawsuits filed against it for alleged overcharging on Windows. Judge Fredrick Motz ruled that the proposed deal would itself be anti-competitive. Opponents such as Apple said the proposal would help Microsoft gain ground in the education market.
