Despite its towering Pisa results, Finland is considering giving more time in the curriculum to subjects such as arts and crafts, music and physical education (“Could a stitch in time save Finland’s international rank?”, 28 June). What wonderful words about its Pisa position: “It doesn’t matter if we’re overtaken. We play in a different league.” When publishing his re-revised curriculum proposals for England will education secretary Michael Gove act with similar “Finnesse”?
