There’s a national shortage of school crossing wardens, to give them their proper name. It seems it’s just not a popular career choice any more and, quite frankly, it’s easy to see why. Every day these brave schools have to contend with dangerous drivers, badly behaved kids and the vagaries of the British weather. It’s hoped that a new national competition to find the lollipop man or woman of the year might spark a jump in the number of recruits. Hmm, what about an increase in wages?
