National curriculum is dying a death

Is the national curriculum dead? The DfE is currently revising it - but academies do not have to follow it. When more than half of all secondary schools are academies or free schools, do we really have a national curriculum? Will the curriculum of our schools now be defined by the big brand academy sponsors instead?
