Christmas Phonics - initial sound recognition

The teacher should say each word as the picture is shown to avoid confusion about what the picture is. The pictures are as follows: santa, reindeer, present, tree, bell & stocking. This activity can be used to assess whether pupils can identify initial sound within words or can be used to assess whether children can write the letter to correspond with the sound. If doing the latter, each pupil should have their own whiteboard/paper on which they should write the letter, holding it up before the answer is revealed . Differentiated follow up worksheets are provided .

Mental Maths - Division powerpoint

Different forms of division sums are given in this powerpoint. I often use it for mental maths sessions by changing the sums and the order of the slides. Each slide has a text box for entering a pupil name which means the activity can be differentiated. Click into the text box and enter pupil name. The name does not appear until the mouse is clicked so all pupils can try to work the answer out before finding out who should answer.
