This year the Tharu people will celebrate Attwari festival on Tuesday 27th June. Teach your pupils about the significance of this festival with the use of this PowerPoint. Ideal for assembly or collective worship.

A PowerPoint that I created based on carrielou's &'Barnaby Bear visits Spain&'; (thanks to her). I used it as part of my 'Where in the world is Barnaby Bear?&' topic.
Apparently hairtail is fish!

Here are 6 lessons based around the unit of ‘How & why do we celebrate special times?’, aimed at Years 1 and/or 2 (I have a mixed aged class). Most lessons are linked to Christianity but there is a lesson on Eid and a lesson to compare Eid and Christmas. Most lessons have resources attached as well, although in my original plan I’d used some from the internet so I’ve had to remove these for copyright reasons, but they’re easily found.

A week’s worth of planning for the book ‘The Polar Express’, including worksheets and differentiated activities. Lessons include sequencing, descriptive writing, similes, alphabetical order and writing a letter. Great for this time of year.

I’ve made 3 sheets of multiplication word problems aimed at Year 2s. There is a sheet for 3 different ability groups with 10 Christmas questions for each.
You could simply stick the sheet into the children’s books but I get the children to cut out each one, stick it into their books then write the sum they did to solve the question.
These questions would be easily adapted to different year groups or to make them easier or harder.

4 days of English based on the book The Lighthouse Keeper’s Lunch. It is aimed at KS1 and covers skills such as new vocabulary, setting and character descriptions and connectives.

Here are 4 lessons based around the book ‘Chicken Clicking’ by Jeanne Willis.

It is aimed at Year 1s and 2s. Covers various skills including understanding of text, connectives and suffixes.
PowerPoints are included to support teaching in class and for home learners.

This is a 7 week unit based on local historical figures of Derbyshire. The unit introduces 7 different people from history who were either born or lived (or both) in Derbyshire and were important in different ways. There are pupil activities for all lessons.

A 6 week plan for teaching Key Stage 1 about the importance of Easter for Christians. As well as outline of activities, there are activity sheets which can be easily adapted for the needs of your class.

Four days of planning based around parts of the film Arthur Christmas. I did these lessons with my mixed class of Year 1s and 2s but it could be easily adapted for just Year 1s of just Year 2s. Then watch the film as a Christmas treat with your class!
