This two lesson sequence aims to lead students through planning and writing an effective GCSE Literature essay under timed conditions. Contains exemplars and answer slides with lots of useful analysis ideas.

Originally set for online learning, this attractive package of resources uses two modern, short films, available on Youtube, which explore issues of Greed vs Generosity, providing strong PSHE/Citizenship links. This cross-curricular unit encourages Deeper Thinking of philosophical questions, uses film and camerawork terminology and offers a wide selection of tasks for students to choose from, including drawing, game designing, creative writing and music. This was originally set for 1 week worth of Year 9 English lessons online and worked very well remotely. It could also be used in the classroom, as a PowerPoint or downloaded as a PDF homework project booklet. Students always love and engage with these unique films.

6 PowerPoints on 4 Extracts- The Woman in Black, Frankenstein, The Haunting of Hill House and IT by Stephen King. Full PowerPoints and extracts included in a Zip file. These lessons were made for a Year 10 Extra English support group. They focus on developing knowledge and understanding of vocabulary, word classes and writer’s craft, as well as developing their own creative writing skills. There are a range of activities included for individual and pair/small group work and lots of self and peer assessment opportunities.

This is a very detailed, well presented slideshow with analysis, questions and answer slides and it is suitable for a middle to high ability GCSE group. There is over a lesson’s worth here. It could also be used online or for revision.
