<p>A model diary writing text based on the beautiful wordless picture book <em>Journey</em> by Aaron Becker.</p>
<p>The model recount text is a diary entry written from the point of view of the female protagonist.</p>
<p>The diary comes with a feature find task, which asks pupils to search for the following writing features including figurative language and other literary devices, grammar and punctuation:<br />

<p>An answer sheet has been included.</p>
<p>The diary example can be used as a WAGOLL before pupils write their own diary entries based on Journey. Ideas include:<br />
• A diary entry from the next day, describing the later events in the story<br />
• A diary entry from the point of view of the boy<br />
• A diary entry from the point of view of one of the guards or soldiers<br />
• A diary entry from the point of view of one of the girl’s family members<br />
• A diary entry from the point of view of either of the child characters, written after the book takes place</p>
