Year 7 Building Blocks - The Piano

(0)
This project is an introduction to the piano. Aimed at Year 7 it is scaffolded from the bottom up and ensures all learners make progress. As well as fully resourced PowerPoints, you will also receive a booklet full of everything each learner needs as resources and for formative and summative learning. The booklet is numbered and this is also noted on the PowerPoints for ease of student and teachers. It takes students through note pitches, values, symbols and other basic notation, assessing students as emerging (right hand of London Bridge) Developing (right hand melody of London Bridge + root note of chord) securing (right hand melody and left hand chords of London Bridge) and Excellence (a negotiated chorded melody of the students choosing). A ready to go SOW of 9 lessons, designed for quality work and clear progress.

Year 7 Drama - Confidence Building and Characterisation

(0)
This project is designed for students as their first insight into drama in Year 7. It guides them through being a confident performer, characterisation and the devising process. It supports the use of imagination and has been well received. In order to support school foci, it also incorporates a workbook to support showing progress, effective formative and summative assessment, as well as literacy initiatives through spellings and guided reading. It is designed for the established practitioner, or non specialist and scaffolds from the bottom. It is designed to support quality work and autonomy of students.

A Midsummer Night's Dream

An extensive, extended project of 18 lessons, this scheme gives learners the opportunity to watch, review, read and be directed in A Midsummer Night’s Dream. It goes through important theatre knowledge, including job roles, technical elements and much, much more. It is fully resourced and comes with a booklet that enables students to show progress and effectively documents formative and summative assessment. It is a well loved project that gives the teacher artistic control, as well as embedding key theoretical knowledge of the play, playwright and theatre as a whole! Year 7 have particularly enjoyed this project, but could be developed for older years too.

Year 7 Building Blocks Through Ukulele, Djembe, Recorder and Singing

A sister project to Year 7 Building Blocks through Piano, this fully resourced scheme of works is designed for students in Year 7 to understand and develop their musicality through the aforementioned instruments. It is designed for students to make clear progress and scaffolded from the bottom. It is designed with most school priorities in mind, including effective formative and summative assessment, and literacy through spelling and guided reading. It can be delivered by a music specialist or non specialist and comes with a student workbook that clearly shows progress and supports teachers in their marking workload. The theme through all my Year 7 SOW are ‘music in Britain’ to add some contextual and enrichment in as well. This project has 10 lessons and is designed for students to experience instruments from a range of families.

Mini Melody Project - The Piano

This project builds on learners understanding of basic notation, to enable them to play more advanced melodies. It is a sister project to the 1st piano project on my page and starts to look at time signatures other than 4/4 and sharps and flats. Again it is fully resourced with an effective formative and summative assessment booklet, that supports evidence of progress and teacher mark load. It is scaffolded form the bottom up and gives students to make quality progress in their piano playing. It is aimed at year 7, but could definitely be used at any KS3 point. It then goes on to look at riffs and ostinatos, which leads onto my final project in the series of Year ‘more than just a melody’. It is made up of 8 lessons and again, contains major school focuses, such as literacy innitiatives through spellings and guided reading, context and wider knowledge, as well as effective formative and summative assessment.
