A set of three lessons in which students research the past, present and future of Computing. There is also a mini project as an alternative. The aim at the end is for them to complete a timeline. No-specific timeline lesson is included but is mentioned in the mini-project.

To complement our upcoming Past, Present & Future lesson bundle, a little mini project where students conduct some research

You can choose what they do with this research but there is a challenge task to suggest a timeline

Designed with remote learning in mind

The final lesson in our Past, Present & Future series which explores who we think are the key people, companies, inventions and events from current developments

The resource includes:

Lesson presentation (PPTX but text areas are images) including plenary questions using Bloom’s Taxonomy

Factfile for students to use for research (DOCX)

SWOT analysis template (can be completed in PDF, available free on the website)

Support sheets with smaller version of slides on (PDF)

Useful Links (PDF)

Plenary Questions template with word Plenary removed so they can be used in different ways (can be completed in PDF)

Further Exploration – more challenging research questions (PDF)

The lesson can be delivered in many ways but the overall aim at the end of the unit is to create a timeline

Sadly we could not include every possible development but it should give students a chance to think about the future!
