Knowledge organiser can be used for setting homework/cover/revision work.</p> <p>This unit covers Chinese music, covering chinese culture, chinese instruments and the pentatonic scale. Tasks include, listening and appraising, singing, playing a chinese song on keyboard and composing. This unit is intended to be taught over 6 1 hour lessons by a music specialist but can of course be interpreted.</p> <p>I teach this scheme at the end of Year 7 when students have some knowledge of reading music notation and composing but it could be taught at any stage of Ks3. I have found my Year 7s find this unit very interesting as they don’t always know a lot about Chinese culture! I believe it is really important we teach students about music from different parts of the world so they can learn about different cultures.</p>

Knowledge Organiser also perfect for using to set homework/revision/cover.</p> <p>I have found this is a great scheme of work for engaging pupils with classical music. My students have really enjoyed this topic and it allows them to be imaginitive and creative whilst developing listening and appraising skills and learning about orchestral instruments/musical elements etc.</p>

Includes some short tasks. Can be used for Ks3 or Ks4 depending on pupil’s ability. I use as an introduction to music theory at beginning of Ks4. Also a good resource for non-specialists who need help with music theory.</p>

Includes SoW outline for each lesson with relevant hyperlinks, Powerpoint, scores for Star Wars Main Theme and Imperial March and composition planning sheet.</p> <p>This unit is for Ks3, recommended for Year 8 or 9 (it is a good taster for anyone teaching Edexcel GCSE Music as one of the Music for Stage and Screen set works is Rebel Blockade Runner). It is intended to be taught by a music specialist across 6 one hour lessons but can ofcourse be adapted. The composition task could also be done independently on logic or garageband rather than in groups to encourage social distancing.</p>

Scores and card sort activity can be printed and laminated to keep as reusable resources.</p> <p>My students really enjoyed learning about famous film composers and developing their keyboard skills. I would recommend this SoW for end of year 8/year 9 when students already have some knowledge of notation.</p>

<p>This resource explains the Black Lives Matter Movement and gives examples of relevant songs with necessary youtube links. There are some questions for students to answer and an extension task. Perfect for remote learning. I set this online as a Ks3 music task, but could be set for any sort of lesson on BLM. I have found students have really engaged with this resources and have had some good responses from them!</p>
