This, is the Pirate Game! It is amazing! Updated for 2026. I play this with each of my classes at the end of each term. This resource includes my updated version of my original game sheet included a symbol I’ve used over the past few years - the ‘Lightning Bolt’ symbol. The resource includes my Pirate Game sheet (pdf), a fully editable ppt file with the Pirate Game sheet so you can adapt it to include your own symbols/rules. The Grid to display on the IWB and I have also updated and provided a guide as to how to play the game for anyone who hasn’t had the pleasure as of yet.
A one-off creative writing lesson based around pirates. The lesson takes pupils through three clear sections to describe in detail with some inspiration and starting points.
2 weeks of activities based on the story the pirates next door.
I have done this in year 1, focusing on adjectives of settings and retelling the story.
Second week focuses of for and against text, supported by role play which my children really enjoyed and got into character.
I hope your children enjoy this book as much as mine did.

The timings can easily be altered in the animation pane to make the timer shorter or longer should you so wish.

Brighten up SATs revision with this great fun alternative to past papers! This Swash-buckling board game involves pupils moving around the board and answering past SATs questions in order to win treasure.
This pack includes the board, the rules and 32 SATs question cards with answers (you could also add your own cards by using SATs papers in the future). The last page also invites pupils to invent their own game for the students to revise with the following year (but of course they must provide answers to the questions they set!)
To play you will need to cut up the question cards (I suggest laminating them for future use) and print the board in colour for each team. I usually let the rest of the team decide if the question has been answered correctly (that way they all have to work it out!) but there is an answer sheet provided for checking if they are not sure.
You will also need counters, dice and mini whiteboards.
A unique set of activities that will engage your students focus, ignite their learning and strengthen your Pirates unit of work.
