These behaviour prompts can be used in class to easily instruct children without words. This can helpful during whole-class teaching when you do not want to interrupt the flow of teaching and can be particularly helpful for visual learners.
Why do you need this?
Managing classroom behaviour without constant verbal reminders is a challenge. These behaviour prompt cards offer a quiet, visual solution. These 12 colourful cards provide friendly cues that redirect students non-disruptively.
How and when might you use this?
Teachers can hold up cards like “Good Looking” and “Hand Up to Speak” during instruction. A simple glance conveys expectations and reminds focused learners to stay on-task. Prompts for good sitting, listening, and putting your hand up keep students engaged in lessons.
What’s included?
Included are 12 different cards:
· Good listening
· Good looking
· Good sitting
· Hand up
· Well done
· Time out
· Stop
· Wait
· No touching
· Quiet
· Kind hands
· Kind feet
Also included are smaller versions appropriate for a lanyard.
This social story supports children who may act unsafely when feeling strong emotions. It emphasises the importance of staying calm and making safe choices, even when experiencing anger, frustration, or overwhelm. Key safety behaviours are covered, such as walking calmly in hallways, staying in the classroom without permission to leave, avoiding climbing on furniture, and following teacher instructions. The story also encourages children to ask for help when needed and reminds them that following safety rules protects everyone, including themselves.
What’s Inside?
Along with a 23-page social story, there’s also a shorter, adapted version with movable pictures to help engage children on each page.
Why Is This Social Story Helpful?
Social stories use a gentle and reassuring tone to teach children about social situations in a way that’s easy to understand. They are particularly useful for:
• Children who struggle to grasp social concepts.
• Learning social skills, social cues, and appropriate responses.
• Providing guidance on expectations, emotions, and problem-solving.
• Supporting autistic children who may find social interactions challenging and benefit from clear, structured explanations.
How to Use This Story Effectively
• Create a focused environment - Read the story in a quiet space with minimal distractions.
• Read it regularly - Start by reading it twice, then revisit it often to reinforce learning.
• Incorporate it into daily routines - Use the story as part of a structured schedule.
• Use it when needed - If the child struggles with apologising, read the story at relevant moments (without making it feel like a punishment).
• Encourage and praise - Keep the experience positive, reinforcing good behavior with encouragement.
Durability & Reusability
For long-term use, consider laminating and binding the pages or placing them in a display book. This allows for repeated reading and reinforcement, making the lesson more effective over time.

Now and next boards helps pupils with SEN and behavioural difficulties to focus on what they should be doing in the instant, and what will be happening next. This is a very supportive strategy as it breaks the day down into simple stages and helps to alleviate anxiety. Simply attach a piece of velcro to the now and next areas. Symbols for lessons and transitions can be laminated and used to velcro to the board.
