Walking Away by C Day Lewis-lesson designed to encourage independent interpretation for levels 4-5
<p>I made this for my Y9. A set of easily distracted boys who struggle in English.<br />
I started with the PPT to get them thinking of themes then set them on the worksheet-giving them only the time allocated to do as much as they could on a section at a time. Then they fed back their answers while we all annotated the stanza/poem in the anthology.<br />
The table at the end of the worksheet was preparation for an essay:<br />
'How does C Day Lewis use imagery connected to the natural world (and other techniques) to express his feelings about his relationship with his son?<br />
The wording in brackets was aimed at the level 5 group as an extension task.</p>
