I created this resource after realising that Read, Write, Inc doesn't cover all of the sounds needed for the phonics screening check. Included in the pack are: - A4 picture cards with a rhyme and words for Fred Talk (and a suggested set to teach it with) - A4 sound cards to print onto the back of the picture cards. - Smaller versions of the above to add to your recap pack. - 4 green words for each sound. - 2 alien words for each sound. Missing sounds included are: ff, ll, ss, zz, ie, ue, wh, ph, oe, au, ey, e-e, y, ck They are all in a Comic Sans font, but are word documents so you can change this if you want to. Included in this pack is all you need to assess a child in their phonetic ability. Page 1: An overview sheet for the teacher to highlight with sounds, words and alien words correctly read by the pupil. There is also space to note down any common mis pronunciations. Page 2-10: A larger, child-friendly copy of the sounds, words and alien words from the test for the children to read. This assessment follows the letters and sounds framework and includes ALL sounds covered in the Year 1 phonics screening check (unlike the Read, Write, Inc assessment which has missing sounds - see also my document for teaching the missing sounds).

Planning for a whole school kindness day on ‘We are all wonders’ book by R.J.Palacio, which is a younger, more child-friendly version of ‘Wonder’ by the same author. The pack includes the planning for the day including an assembly, song and class activities including a powerpoint for a ‘Big Think’ session. Here are the documents that I used to run a friendship club intervention for children at my school. It would work with any ages and can all be edited. This club was ran during a lunchtime and led by the school council/leadership team.

I had this display up in my classroom and both myself and the children would constantly refer to it and use it during the day. It really changed the way that they approached challenges.
