A main activity for year 1 to introduce the concept of time connectives. Children are able to move the sentences around and insert an appropriate time word. Higher ability work is on the IWB slide; MA and LA have worksheets to continue this work.
Children are given a paper pizza and ingredients and are asked to either follow the instructions to make their pizza (LA), insert time connectives to help the instructions make sense (MA) or write their own instructions.

This is a simple IWB show to introduce the topics of Time Connectives by showing time connectives and allowing the children to drag the sentences around and insert an appropriate time word.
Children should also look at when they need to add full stops or take capital letters out of the sentences.
A short worksheet to reinforce the differences between statements and instructions. Children have to colour in which boxes contain instructions before writing two instructions of their own.
