This resource is a comprehensive reading comprehension booklet based on Livingstone’s Big Adventure by Fi Sylvester. I have included three levels of question; retrieval, prediction and inference to support NC requirements in reading. These can be used as a written task/informal assessment of KS1/lower KS2 reading skills. The prediction and inference sheets could also be used verbally in guided reading sessions.

This resource consists of a map of the area around the book 1 setting and a planning sheet based on ‘Livingstone’s Big Adventure’ and forms part of the scheme I created which you can also find in resources. It shows the location of other areas along the bumpy road that Livingstone will explore in subsequent adventures and ties in with the story-mountain style planning sheet based on the format of the original story. I am the author of the book and, as an ex primary teacher, wanted to provide a comprehensive set of resources built around the story. These resources cover lessons in writing techniques such are word groups, vocabulary development, punctuation, extended sentences, up leveling (conjunctions and sentence openers) along with story opener styles. You can find a set of reading comprehension task sheets also on TES which can be used for comprehension practice tests or to support guided reading.
