Unit of work for Design and Technology. Textiles project to design, make and evaluate a Christmas decoration. Used for Year 3/4 but is suitable for Year 5/6. This project could take about a half-term or could be blocked to complete in a shorter time frame. Includes planning for each lesson and PowerPoint used as a task setter. Planning has used D&T Association Projects on a Page as guidance for the design process.

First unit of work that I did with a Y4 class on writing a letter to the professor in Arthur and the Golden Rope. Linked to Traders and Raiders/ Vikings topic.

Used as an interview lesson in a Y2 class. Includes lesson plan and resources used. I also made a giant postcard from Sunny and made large luggage tags using brown paper and black card for children to write on.

Used in Year 5/6 class. Includes: lesson plan, starter activity, differentiated labelling diagram, investigation area posters, observation sheet. Learning objectives: • To investigate sound and hearing. • I can use observations and ideas to suggest answers to questions. • I can observe and name a variety of sources of sound, noticing that we hear with our ears. • I can identify how sounds are made, associating some of them with something vibrating. • I can recognise that vibrations from sounds travel through a medium to the ear.

Lesson on relative clauses used for an interview with a Year 5 class. Based on an alien discovery linked to Space topic. Supported LA/ SEND using sentence strips for children to match relative clause to main part of sentence. Includes powerpoint used, word bank, activity sheet and lesson plan.

Unit Plan used for Y4 English but could be adapted for other year groups. 2 weeks of planning used for children to write own newspaper reports about Beowulf’s final battle. Other resources used from Twinkl/ TES.

Paper Aeroplanes Experiment. AT1 used in Year 6 class. Learning Objectives: • I can plan a scientific enquiry, including recognising and controlling variables. • I can take measurements using a range of scientific equipment, with increasing accuracy and precision. • I can record data and results, and report findings from enquiries. • I can identify the effect of drag forces, such as air resistance and friction that act between moving surfaces.

Unit planning for writing a balanced argument linked to Beowulf. Was Grumpy Grendel right to attack the mead-hall? Resources used were from Twinkl or other TES resources.

Unit plan for instructional writing used with Y4 class - could be adapted for different year groups. Children wrote instructions to make a marvellous medicine of their own. Resources used from Puffin Resource Pack - Roald Dahl available online.

Unit Plan - Narrative Writing. Used with Y4 class and the children did some great pieces of writing linked to George’s Marvellous Medicine. Adventure/ fantasy stories. Resources from Twinkl/ TES.

Lesson plan and resources for a problem-solving lesson using all number operations. Used successfully in an interview lesson with Y5 but could be adapted to suit different age groups. Includes lesson plan, powerpoint, code breaker problem solving and answers.
