<p>3-6 weeks of lessons (dependent on how many sessions of GR per week) for Guided Reading, all based on Michael Morpurgo’s Why the Whales Came.<br /> Suitable for Years 4, 5 or 6.</p> <p>Colour coded worksheets based on the new reading skills 2a, 2b, 2c, 2d, 2e, 2f, 2g, 2h. Worksheets include a range of questions, such as find and copy, match the meaning, circle the meaning, and explaining their answer.</p> <p>Five sessions per week:<br /> Session 1- Reading with TA<br /> Session 2- Reading with Teacher<br /> Session 3- Independent reading and comprehension based on that week’s focus skill<br /> Session 4- Independent reading and comprehension on a mixture of skills<br /> Session 5- Reading for pleasure</p> <p>These sessions can be extended to cover a longer period of time: also included is a set of vocabulary cards based on the book, so extra activities can be completed using these.</p>

<p>Six four-week home learning projects linked to the Normans/1066/Battle of Hastings topic.</p> <p>Children choose from Reading &amp; Writing, Mathematics, Science, Computing, Creative Arts &amp; Design, and History &amp; Geography and complete the project over 4 weeks.</p> <p>Each project is broken down into four weekly steps as a recommended schedule of study, and also included is a suggested books and websites list to help.</p> <p>Each project also has a marking rubric to help focus children’s work, and these are linked to house points which can be awarded when the project has been marked.</p>
